The File Length
The Shape of the File
The shape of the file is determined by the shape of the workpiece. There is a file for every type of work.
The cut coarseness
The cut coarseness is determined by the job at hand. The number of teeth per centimeter indicates the coarseness.
Bastard Cut File
For fast stock removal on hardened steel and cast iron. Less teeth per centimeter and good teeth depth.
Second Cut File
All-purpose file to obtain reasonable stock removal and finish.
Smooth Cut File
More teeth per centimeter to enable a smooth finish even on hardened material.
Single Cut File
For fine filing and sharpening on hardened steel.
